0%Hey!
AI can now generate image ads that look incredible. On-brand, professional, ready to go. But looking pretty is not what makes an ad convert.
What you actually need is different ads for different stages of the customer journey. In this guide, I'll show you how to take a single product photo and turn it into a full image ad campaign with 7 templates across 3 funnel stages.
A Full AI Ad Campaign From One Product Photo
Let's start with the end result. I took a single product photo of CP-1, a NAD+ supplement, and generated a complete ad campaign with AI.
Top of funnel awareness ads. Middle of funnel consideration ads. Bottom of funnel conversion ads. All from one photo.

That took about 30 seconds. One product photo, one template, one click. The AI improvised the copy, the layout, and even the lifestyle visuals around the product.
But making one good-looking ad is easy. The real question is whether you're building a campaign that actually moves people through the buying process.
Why Most Image Ad Campaigns Don't Convert
Here's the mistake I see constantly. Someone generates a bunch of "25% off, buy now" ads, throws them into Meta, and wonders why nothing converts.
The problem is that trying to sell someone with only bottom-of-funnel ads is like asking someone to marry you on the first date. They don't know you. They don't trust you.
They're not ready.
What you actually need is a full funnel.
- Top of funnel (awareness): People don't know your brand yet. These ads stop the scroll by calling out a pain point or challenging a belief. They don't sell. They grab attention.
- Middle of funnel (consideration): They know they have a problem. Now you show them your product is the answer. Build desire, paint the transformation.
- Bottom of funnel (conversion): They know your product. Close the deal with social proof, urgency, and offers.
When you cover all 3 stages, your entire ad account performs better. Even your video ads and UGC benefit because the image ads catch people at different touchpoints.
I used Starpop for all of these because it has 300+ templates already organized by funnel stage and product category. But the frameworks work regardless of which tool you use.
Top of Funnel: Stop the Scroll
These ads are for people who have never heard of your brand. The goal is not to sell. It's to make them stop scrolling and think "wait, that's me."
Template 1: [Pain Point] Gone
The simplest framework on this list. Take a specific pain point your audience has and add the word "gone." That's the entire formula.

The key is being ultra-specific. Not "low energy gone." Instead, "tiredness gone without caffeine crashes." The more specific you are, the more your audience feels like you're talking directly to them.
Bonus move: Add a "without" statement to handle objections upfront. "Brain fog gone, without caffeine" does a lot of heavy lifting in one line.
Crystal clear messaging. Qualifies your audience instantly. Very few words so the visual can breathe. The AI handles the layout and lifestyle imagery while you control the pain point.
Template 2: It's Not [Common Belief], It's [Unexpected Cause]
This is one of my favorites. You call out what your prospect currently thinks the issue is, then tell them it's actually something totally different.
For CP-1: "It's not aging. It's NAD+ depletion." Or "It's not the coffee. It's your cells."

This works because it instantly sets you apart from every competitor. It suggests you have an entirely new solution. And it lets the prospect off the hook.
"It's not your fault" is powerful messaging.
Now here's where it gets interesting. The auto-improvised version above is solid. The structure is right, the copy works.
But what if you want the exact words your customers actually use?
The Copy Quality Hack: Reddit Research
The best ad copy doesn't come from your head. It comes from your customer's mouth.
I spent 15 minutes browsing Reddit forums about NAD+ supplements and fatigue. Real people describing their problems in their own words. Things like "reaching for my third coffee by 2pm" and "wired but exhausted."
That language is gold. When someone sees those exact words in an ad, they feel like you're reading their mind.

Same template, same product. But the second version speaks the customer's language. And that's what actually converts.
Search Reddit, Facebook groups, and competitor reviews for how real people describe their problem. Look for the specific phrases they use. Paste those into your ad copy. The more fluently you speak your prospect's language, the more likely they are to actually hear you.
Middle of Funnel: Build Desire
Your prospect knows they have a problem. They're not convinced there's a good solution yet. These ads show them your product is the answer.
Template 3: From [Pain Point] to [Dream Outcome]
Name a specific pain point. Then name the exact opposite as the outcome. Dead simple.

Power move: Add a timeline. "From brain fog to laser focus in 2 weeks." That one addition turns a nice headline into a concrete, believable claim.
Template 4: Timeline Ads (Day 1 / Week 2 / Month 1)
Instead of listing benefits, attach timelines to them. This template is a powerhouse.

This format does serious heavy lifting.
- Future-paces the prospect. They can picture exactly what happens next.
- Kills the "when will this work?" objection. Clear timelines, clear expectations.
- Names 3 benefits in a digestible way. Day 1: energy boost. Week 2: sharper focus. Month 1: feel 10 years younger.
- Can boost average order value. People see the long-term results and want to buy in bulk to get there.
Template 5: Three Reasons Why
"3 Reasons I Ditched My Old Supplement Stack." This format pre-sells before people even hit your landing page.

You might notice a lower click-through rate on these. But the clicks you do get are highly qualified. If someone reads three strong reasons and still clicks, they're already pretty much sold.
Your landing page conversion rate goes up.
Two variants to try:
- Product-aware audiences: "3 reasons I love [product]"
- Problem-aware audiences: "3 reasons I ditched [alternative]"
Small tweak, big difference in who you're attracting.
Bottom of Funnel: Close the Deal
These people know your product. Maybe they've visited your site, maybe they've seen your other ads. Now we close.
Template 6: Testimonial Headline
Zero copywriting required. Go into your customer reviews, find a line that calls out a specific benefit, and use it as your headline.

The key is picking a review that names a specific benefit. Not just "great product!" Look for lines like "I wake up feeling 10 years younger" or "I can't believe the difference after 2 weeks."
Quick win: Take a visual that's already working on another ad and paste a strong testimonial on top. Done.
Template 7: Offer Ad
The classic closer. Bold offer, product front and center, urgency element.

Now here's the thing. This ad only works well because your top and middle of funnel ads already warmed people up. If this offer ad is the only thing in your ad account, it will underperform.
But when you have the full funnel covered? These offer ads change everything. They catch people at the exact moment they're ready to buy.
Next Steps
We just built a full campaign. 7 image ads across 3 funnel stages, all generated with AI for one real product. You can do the exact same thing for your brand.
What actually matters:
- Don't just make offer ads. Build the full funnel.
- Spend even 10 minutes researching how your customers actually talk. Reddit, Facebook groups, competitor reviews.
- Let the AI improvise. It's better at pattern-matching than you think.
- If you need to control something specific, do it one step at a time through multiple iterations.
All 7 templates plus 300+ more are available on Starpop. You can filter by funnel stage, product category, and visual format to find exactly what you need.
I also put together a free resource with all the copy formulas and template breakdowns. You can grab it in the Starpop Discord (link in the sidebar).
