Question 1

What size should images be for Instagram?

Accepted Answer

Instagram supports multiple image sizes: Square posts are 1080x1080 (1:1), portrait posts are 1080x1350 (4:5), landscape posts are 1080x566 (1.91:1), and Stories/Reels are 1080x1920 (9:16). Square and portrait formats tend to get the most engagement.

Question 2

What image format should I use for social media?

Accepted Answer

JPEG is the most widely supported and offers good compression for photos. PNG is better for images with text, logos, or transparency. WebP offers the best compression but isn't supported everywhere. For most social media posts, JPEG at 85-90% quality is ideal.

Question 3

Will resizing reduce my image quality?

Accepted Answer

Enlarging a small image can reduce quality (pixelation). Shrinking a large image generally maintains quality. For best results, start with the highest resolution image available and resize down. This tool uses high-quality scaling algorithms.

Question 4

What is the maximum image file size for social media?

Accepted Answer

File size limits vary: Instagram allows up to 30MB for photos, Facebook up to 30MB, Twitter up to 5MB, LinkedIn up to 5MB, and TikTok up to 5MB for image ads. If your image is too large, try JPEG format with 80-90% quality.
