Question 1

What is the best aspect ratio for TikTok?

Accepted Answer

TikTok videos should be 9:16 (1080x1920 pixels). This vertical format fills the entire phone screen and is required for the best viewing experience on the For You Page.

Question 2

What aspect ratio should I use for Instagram?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the format: Feed posts work best at 1:1 (1080x1080) or 4:5 (1080x1350). Stories and Reels should be 9:16 (1080x1920). Landscape posts use 1.91:1 (1080x566).

Question 3

How do I convert 16:9 to 9:16?

Accepted Answer

Simply swap the width and height. A 1920x1080 (16:9) video becomes 1080x1920 (9:16). Note that this changes from landscape to portrait, so you may need to re-crop or re-edit your content.

Question 4

What is aspect ratio?

Accepted Answer

Aspect ratio is the proportional relationship between the width and height of an image or video. It's expressed as two numbers separated by a colon, like 16:9 or 1:1. It determines the shape of your content.
