Need a hand?

I don’t see where to add Starpop

Add Starpop on chatgpt.com, claude.ai, gemini.google.com, or grok.com in a browser. On a work account, an admin may need to allow custom plugins in ChatGPT. On Claude Team and Enterprise plans, an owner adds Starpop for the organization first, and you click Connect under Customize → Connectors. Gemini custom apps need a personal Google Account with Gemini Apps Activity on. Grok custom connectors may need a paid plan.

Starpop doesn’t answer in my chat

In ChatGPT, type @ and choose Starpop. In Claude, click + → Connectors and switch Starpop on. In Gemini, type @ and choose Starpop. In Grok, check that Starpop is connected under Connectors. Then mention Starpop in your message, for example “Use Starpop to…”.

Does this cost anything?

Connecting is free and no API key is needed. Creating images, videos, voiceovers, or music uses your Starpop organization’s credits.

Can I disconnect later?

Yes. Remove Starpop from your plugins or connectors at any time, or revoke the connection in Starpop under Settings → Connected agents.

Server details

Generate images, video, speech, and music with your saved brands, products, and media. Look through a video as a filmstrip of shots or timed frames, ask questions about what happens in it, transcribe video or audio with word timings and speakers, and describe its music and sound effects.

Analysis uses uploaded or generated Starpop media, and TikTok, Instagram, X, and Meta Ad Library posts imported by URL. Upload local files first. Media analysis requires a project. Web and social search are not included.

Example prompts

Tell your agent which organization and project to use. You can ask for a plan before starting any media generation.

Explore your brand
Use Starpop to show my saved brands. Let me choose one, then summarize its audience, products, and creative direction.
Create a product image
Use Starpop to create a product image. Ask me to choose a project and product, then suggest three concepts. Wait for me to choose one before generating.
Analyze a video
Upload this video to my Starpop project, then give me its transcript, shot list, and a description of the music and sound effects.
Analyze audio
Upload this audio to Starpop. Give me the transcript with word timings, describe the music and instruments, and report the tempo if it can be measured.
Plan a video ad
Use Starpop’s paper-animation skill to plan a 15-second vertical ad for one of my saved products. Show me the script and shot list before generating media.

Skills

MCP shares the production knowledge Starpop’s own agent uses. The starpop-foundations skill carries its rules for storyboarding, advertising, model choice, visual consistency, music, and editing. Workflow skills cover replicating a reference video, voiceovers, ICP research, song ads, talking characters, whiteboard explainers, skeleton, podcast, drama, and Zack D. Films formats, and the paper, claymation, Disney-Pixar, cinematic 3D, comic, chibi 3D, and wool crochet styles. Your agent can discover them with list_skills and read the instructions with get_skill over the same MCP connection.

Discover skills
List the available Starpop skills and explain when to use each one.

No separate skill installation is required to read them through MCP. The connection needs the starpop:skills:read permission. Ad-production skills work best in a host with command execution, file access, and HTTP downloads and uploads, plus FFmpeg with ffmpeg and ffprobe installed for local editing, video assembly, and export verification. Without them, Starpop’s editor assembles the video. Each skill declares its tool and host requirements.

Uploads and jobs

Select your organization with list_workspaces; the connection remembers the organization it last used. Each new conversation creates its own project and session with create_project, or a new session with create_session in a project you name from list_projects. A conversation that continues earlier work reuses that work's session from list_sessions. Use the returned scope, including a null brandId for unbranded projects. Uploads are saved to the project and generated media to its session, so the conversation's work appears in Starpop. Agents with file access also save each finished output to starpop/<project>/ in their working folder.

Upload a local file

To use a file from your computer as a reference, upload it first:

  1. prepare_media_upload

Provide the filename, MIME type, size, and checksum to get an expiring upload URL and HTTP instructions.

  2. Upload the file

Send the file using the returned HTTP instructions. The MCP server cannot read local file paths.

  3. finalize_media_upload

Verify the upload and get a media reference to use in generation requests.

Check generation status

create_image | create_video | create_speech | create_music
                     | upscale_video
                         ↓ progress updates
                  finished media + jobId

If the call ends while the job is still running:
                  wait_for_job(jobId)

Generation calls wait for the result and send progress updates when the client requests them. Credits are used when the job starts; estimate_generation prices a request without starting it. If a long job is still running when the call returns, use wait_for_job with its jobId to continue waiting. Use get_job for a status check or fresh media links. Every result includes the exact inputs Starpop received, and rerun_job makes a variant from them. Reuse a clientRequestId only when retrying the exact same request.

Client support

Clients that support MCP Apps can display images, video, and audio inline with generation results. Use show_media_jobto reopen an existing result. All clients receive job status and media links.

Troubleshooting

Authentication or permission error
Authenticate again using your client’s setup instructions. Review the requested permissions before approving access. A tool needs its corresponding permission to run.
Workspace or project unavailable
Check that you signed in with the right Starpop account, still belong to the organization, and allowed it for this agent in Settings → Connected agents. Ask the agent to list your workspaces and projects again before retrying.
Insufficient credits
Ask the agent to check the selected organization’s credit balance. Add credits in Starpop before starting another generation.
Media link expired
Ask the agent to retrieve the job again with get_job. It returns fresh media URLs; you do not need to regenerate the media.

Security

Starpop checks permissions, organization membership, and media ownership on every tool call. OAuth tokens authorize requests to the MCP endpoint.

When you approve a connection, you choose which organizations the agent can use. It cannot see or spend credits in any other organization. Change the selection at any time in Connected agents.

Media links expire. Saved brand, product, and research content is treated as data, not instructions for the agent.

Manage connections

Open Settings → Connected agents from your Starpop workspace.
